The Gusen Concentration Camp 1939-1945

Gusen, the largest concentration camp on Austrian territory, was mostly forgotten by history until a few years ago. In the shadow of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial, survivors of Gusen and relatives of those murdered there overcame countless obstacles to build their own site of memory. It was a long time before the Republic of Austria assumed responsibility for it. In the early 2000s, the first exhibition about its history was put on under the title Concentration Camp Gusen 1939-1945. Traces - Fragments - Reconstructions. Now this source book, authored by recognised experts and employees of the Mauthausen Memorial, provides a comprehensive documentation of the camp.
